  Bat Care

Part of the work we do at BrumBats is the care of sick, injured and orphaned bats. We have a small network of bat carers who work tirelessly to provide the best care possible to these bats and endeavour to get them back into the wild as quickly as possible. If you think you'd like to join the team, we'd love to have you on board.

Becoming a Bat Carer or Collector - We're always in need of more bat carers, and we support them by running training courses, providing help with innoculations and providing equipment when possible. You'd be a part of a growing network of people. In general, looking after bats can be very tiring (physically and emotionally), so its not something to be undertaken lightly, but you'd have the support of a network of people just like you. If you'd like to help but you don't think you'd be able to commit to being a carer, you could become a Volunteer Bat Collector. This role is slightly different, as your job would be to collect bats from where they have been found and bring them to a carer for assessment and treatment. It doesn't involve handling bats, just transporting them, and the work is invaluable, as it enables bat carers to be at home tending to the bats already in their care.

Bats We've Cared For - We have a Bat Care Gallery on the BrumBats Flickr Pages were we post photos of bats that we've cared for. Some of them unfortunately, died, but many have been released back into the wild. If you think you'd like to consider becoming a carer or a collector, then email Morgan for more details.
