Bat Walks
- These take place in the summer months, at dozens of sites in
the area, from local nature reserves to city centres. You don't
need any experience, just come along and bring all the family.
If you have a local site and would like to arrange a bat walk
there, email us!

| Training
Days - Fancy learning about Using a Bat Detector, Leading a
Bat Walk, Bat Legislation, Bat Care, or Recording Bats? BrumBats
have a programme of training days, which are usually FREE to BrumBats
members! Check the calendar for upcoming dates, but book up early
as spaces are limited! |
|
| Slide
Shows and Talks - These are great for people who perhaps can't
do lots of walking (or for those with an early bedtime!) Keep an
eye out on the calendar for talks in your area! |
|
| Bat
Box Building - If you are feeling practical, and fancy getting
your hands dusty, you could come to a Bat Box Building event! You
could build your own bat box, take it home and help to provide a
home for bats in your garden! |
|
| Bat
Care and Rehabilitation - We have a network of trained bat carers
throughout Birmingham and the Black Country, who care for sick,
injured and orphaned bats. If you would like to get involved, come
to a BrumBats meeting and have a chat with one of our members. |
|
| Roost
Visits - BrumBats visit roosting sites and record where bats
occur in the area. This is demanding but very rewarding work, so
if you are interested in getting some roost visiting experience,
talk to us. |
|
| Surveys
- Surveys happen all the time, especially in the summer. People
are always looking for volunteers to help, and it is a great way
to build up your skills using a bat detector. Keep an eye on the
message board and calendar for volunteering opportunities. |
|
| Conferences
- We attend conferences and meetings about bats several times a
year. If you are interested in learning about bat work that happens
in other areas, or in networking with other bat people, watch the
calendar for upcoming events. |
|
| Stalls
at Local Shows - We are always trying to raise awareness of
bat conservation, and welcome new members into BrumBats. One of
the ways we do this is by holding stalls at local events. So if
you are good at talking to people, and especially if you like talking
about bats, this might be perfect for you! |
